We have a huge Tinseltown plot twist for you to enjoy!
Hollywood was full of self-congratulation when it nominated a biological male for the Best Actress award at the upcoming Academy Awards. Karla Sofia Gaston is the actor who starred in “Emila Perez,” a Spanish-language movie that aired on Netflix. Gascon, who starred in the Spanish-language film “Emila Perez,” was hailed for his role as the first transgender person to receive an Oscar nomination.
Oh, they were all so proud of themselves for being so open-minded and generous! However, there were some problems. One of them was that no one seemed to like the movie. The plot is confusing.
Zoe Saldana plays the talented but underpaid Rita Mora Castro. She is offered a mysterious position that promises her unimaginable riches if she accepts the job with a seedy customer. Rita accepts, only to discover that the client is notorious cartel kingpin Juan “Manitas” Del Monte (Karla Sophia Gascon).
Del Monte wishes to pay Rita to create a new identity and life for himself and (separately) his wife (Selena Gomez) and children. Del Monte will undergo gender-affirming surgery and live as a woman, Emilia Pérez. However, years after the surgery, Del Monte regrets abandoning her family and hires Rita to reunite them under the guise that Emilia is a cousin of Del Monte.

It’s a musical.
The gay community then slammed this film as “a step backward” when it comes to “trans representation” within Hollywood.
GLAAD explained that “‘Emilia Perez is a step forward for trans representation” in a breakdown compiled by several critics in the community in November. The group points out representations of trans people that have become tropes within Hollywood portrayals. The main complaint was that the film was praised by many people who were not LGBTQ members, but as it gained cultural and critical traction, it drove away the community it represented. Other criticisms include the fact that the storyline’s transition is viewed as a form of redemption. A murderous drug lord, for example, is praised after the transition.
In a dramatic plot twist, the Best Actress nominated has posted politically charged comments on social media in the past.
Gascon, in a social media post that has since been deleted, said Islam is “becoming a hotbed for infection of humanity, which urgently needs to cure.” In 2020 she called George Floyd “a drug addicted swindler.”

In another post, she aimed the 2021 Oscars, saying, “More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films, I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M. Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala.”
It sounds a bit biased, doesn’t it?
Gascon has been rebuffed by Hollywood, even though he publicly criticized his posts and claimed he was “not racist.” You won’t see him at any pre-Oscars event leading up to the 3rd March ceremony. The AFI Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards are not included. Netflix does not want the actor to be anywhere near Hollywood because he has an opinion that isn’t in line with the elite.
Hollywood celebrated its “progress” until it became inconvenient. They are hoping no one notices.
