Democrat Senator Elissa Slotkin (MI), took several shots at the progressive wing of her party. She referred to Bernie Sanders, her Senate colleague (I-VT), as well as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (DNY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), referring to all of them as little more than activists.
She made these remarks during a Medicaid Roundtable in Flint Michigan.
Slotkin said, “I’ve done what I think I’m able to do to express my feelings about Trump’s actions in words. But I can’t be a mere activist.”
She says it’s about action too.
Slotkin’s response was very honest when a person asked what she had done to help her constituents in comparison with AOC, Sanders, and Crockett who “have been screaming, enraged, and passionate” since the elections.
Slotkin, CNN’s coverage shows, did not just call out AOC but also referred to her by name.
She stated that she must be more than just “an activist” to fight the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.
“All those things require that I be more than an AOC. Slotkin said, “I can’t do the things she does because I live in a purple-colored state and I am pragmatic.”
The Vermont socialist and the congresswoman who is always cursing from the Lone Star State have done little to her.
Slotkin asked: “Everyone that you have mentioned has said a lot, but what are they doing to change the situation? With Donald Trump and his cuts, the attacks against our judiciary system and our Constitution?”
Slotkin’s remarks also show the symbolism of the Democrat Party’s split, as it tries to fight Hurricane Trump, currently ravaging Washington, D.C.
Slotkin is currently speaking to constituents about Medicaid in her state while AOC and Sanders are on a rock-star tour in Las Vegas.
It’s true, the two are holding an event called “Fighting Oligarchy”. This event’s title is about four syllables longer than AOC usually manages to understand. She did well to step up her game.
Slotkin is not to be trusted. Slotkin may play the role of a “pragmatist”, but she is just as activist as everyone else.
She did not vote for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act and was worried about Elon Musk and his “gang of 20-year-olds” using their computer servers to peep into… your accounts.
Slotkin said that Americans during the Trump era were like teenagers with brains still forming. It is ironic that Slotkin would say this as a member who belongs to the same party as Sanders, Ocasio Cortez, and Crockett.
