Corbin Geisendorff, assistant coach for the team called the Texas Colts, paints a disturbing picture of events. “Bullets were flying everywhere,” Geisendorff said, adding that the chaos was not confined to a single shot but rather a barrage of bullets ricocheting off the poles and onto the field.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office provided more specific details. They responded to the scene at The Rac baseball complex in Katy around 10 a.m. on Sunday, following multiple firearms complaints. There, they discovered a 27-year-old coach suffering from a shoulder wound. The injured individual, whose exact condition remains unclear, was airlifted to a nearby hospital and has since been released.

According to the sheriff’s office, three people were engaged in target shooting in the vicinity of the field. Reports indicate that video footage from the incident showed players and coaches alike seeking shelter as the gunfire erupted.
Geisendorff recalled his encounter with the injured coach who was affiliated with another team. “I prayed over him,” he said. Moreover, he recounted that another individual present used a belt as a tourniquet to stem the bleeding from the gunshot wound.
This development follows earlier reports that coaches had heard distant gunshots on the preceding morning. In light of the incident, the Rac complex suspended all field activities until further notice, as announced in a Facebook statement. “We are taking every step possible to ensure this does not happen again on our property,” part of the statement read.
