Canadian lawmakers are furious after President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on goods imported from the U.S.

A Quebec senator has taken matters into his own hands by challenging Donald Trump Jr. to a charity fight.

The challenge was issued by Sen. Patrick Brazeau (50), who has been in office since 2009. Brazeau is not affiliated with any political party. He lost a charity match to Justin Trudeau in 2012, when he was a Canadian member of parliament.

“In light of these bogus Tariffs by President @realDonaldTrump… Brazeau challenged Donald Trump Jr. to a fundraising fight for cancer research or any other organization. I’m on board if you want to be.

The president hoped that the tariffs would force Canada and Mexico into doing more to stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S.

“P.S. Tariffs [from the United States] have nothing to with fentanyl. It’s about our oil, our freshwater, our minerals, our resources, and our Arctic to name but a few”, Brazeau wrote.

According to reports, the president said that he would delay until April 2 the 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods covered by the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement. However, a 25% duty on all U.S. imports of steel and aluminum will begin next week.

Brazeau said to the Toronto Star that he originally wanted to challenge Vice-President J.D. Vance, who was originally going to challenge Brazeau to a boxing bout, but he decided not to.

Brazeau stated, “I believe he is in a different weight class.”

According to The Star, Brazeau stands at 5’10” and weighs 175 lbs. Vance is reported to be 6- 2. Trump Jr. is reportedly 6-1.

Brazeau said to the CBC that he was “personally sick and tired” of hearing about this trade war.

They’re talking about significant duties on our country that will impact every Canadian’s pocketbook. It is my way of continuing this fight without the trade war or tariffs. Let’s do it in the way that the Trump family and Trump people understand, which is through force.”
