The Federal Bureau of Investigation reportedly seized multiple computers, two phones, and additional documents during a recent operation targeting former National Security Adviser, Mr. John Bolton.

FBI agents conducted a raid on Mr. Bolton’s home in Bethesda, Maryland, on August 22, under the umbrella of a prominent national security investigation. Court documents revealed on Thursday that the operation was centered on potential infractions involving the gathering and transmitting of defense information, and the unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or materials.

The seized property from Bolton’s residence and office included three computers, two of them being laptops, two USB drives, a hard drive, and a pair of iPhones. Investigators also took possession of a white binder labeled “Statements and reflections to allied strikes,” and a series of typed documents labeled “Trump I-IV,” both without further explanation.

The raid also extended to Bolton’s Washington office, as part of the ongoing investigation into the management of classified information. Bolton, a key figure in President Trump’s initial administration, later emerged as a vocal critic of the president.

Bolton’s tenure as Trump’s third national security adviser, although lasting for 17 months, was marked by discord over issues such as Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea. Controversy arose during the first Trump administration surrounding a book penned by Bolton, which some officials claimed revealed classified information. However, the Justice Department dismissed its lawsuit in 2021 and concluded a separate grand jury investigation.

Bolton’s book, “The Room Where It Happened,” portrayed President Trump as being grossly uninformed about foreign policy. Bolton previously served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush and held positions in President Ronald Reagan’s administration. He had considered bids for the presidency in 2012 and 2016.
