An American man has lost his life in a marine accident in the Bahamas. According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, this unfortunate event unfolded on Sunday morning when the man’s jet ski collided with a boat in the waters off Paradise Island.
Marine Support Service Branch officers responded to the incident around 11:30 a.m. The male jet ski rider was found unresponsive with visible injuries at the scene. Medical personnel arrived shortly thereafter; however, they found no signs of life.

This incident is not isolated. Since August 2024, at least four U.S. citizens have been hospitalized due to jet ski accidents in the Bahamas, with two requiring emergency evacuations to the United States for treatment of their injuries.
In April 2025, the U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas issued a security alert. It is strongly advised that U.S. citizens avoid renting jet skis in the Bahamas. The risks, as we now understand them, were deemed significant enough to warrant this warning. Furthermore, U.S. government employees stationed in the Bahamas are prohibited from renting and using jet skis on New Providence and Paradise Islands.
