According to authorities, two people were killed and 11 others were hurt in two shootings that erupted 45 minutes apart near a second-line parade in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon.
New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick announced Monday that ten people were injured in the first incident, and three in the second.
She said that all of the injured victims were in stable condition.
Kirkpatrick stated that no arrests had been made.
Kirkpatrick noted that authorities are investigating whether or not the shootings were connected, and that at least 2 guns were used.

The police department immediately closed down the second line. This is a type of parade that features live brass band music.
Kirkpatrick, at a press conference, said that despite the presence of 100 officers on the second line which drew tens of thousands of spectators, “the tragedy occurred”.
New Orleans Councilman Eugene Green said that the New Orleans Police Department had a good representation before, during, and even after the second line and along the parade route.
Kirkpatrick stated that second lines will remain a part of New Orleans culture. Kirkpatrick said, “We have to work with the community to prevent violence.”
